10% Challenge
Water is a precious resource and is of strategic importance to Singapore. The non-domestic sector accounts for half the water consumption in Singapore.
To encourage the non-domestic sector to manage their water usage more efficiently, PUB has introduced the 10% Challenge.
The 10% Challenge will encourage the non-domestic sector such as hotels, schools, commercial and government office buildings, etc to work towards becoming Water Efficient Buildings and save 10% of their monthly water consumption.
The initiatives under the 10% Challenge include:
- A 10% Challenge website
- The Water Efficiency Manager Course
- A Water Efficient Building Design guide book
BE A PART OF THE 10% Challenge
Organisations who are keen to take part in the 10 % Challenge may:
- Provide support from senior management
- Assign a representative to liaise with PUB
- Conduct joint water audits and benchmarking with PUB
- Identify and implement actions to reduce water consumption
- Report progress to PUB officers on an ongoing basis
- Strive for at least 10 % water savings
The 10 % Challenge website will allow building and facilities managers to do an assessment of the current status of the organisation's water demands, benchmark themselves against similar organisations, identify opportunities for improvement through an audit and learn about the various water efficiency measures for the different building types.
PUB acknowledges the following organisations for their support and contribution to the 10% Challenge website.
